Join us for another celebration of Wichita’s local talent at The Ice House Winter Art Showcase — Out of the Ordinary, featuring new works by Robin Turnmire, Brad Rupp, Ed Langston, and Martha Wherry.

This free pop-up art experience transforms the industrial architecture of The Ice House into a gallery of rebirth — where color, texture, and imagination collide. Each artist’s work reflects the power of creativity, community, and reinvention through reclaimed and reimagined materials.

Greatness Vodka will be onsite offering tastings of their product during the event along along with a taco bar from Ruben's Mexican Grill and drinks from Shaken or Stirred. All vendors will be indoors this time. We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of art, community, and local creativity.

Robin Turnmire:

When native Kansan Robin Turnmire returned home to spend time with her ailing dad, Robert Owen, she did not expect their time together to be so short — nor so magical.

In the time they had together, they created over 100 paintings using everyday items and mis-tinted paints from local hardware and big box stores. Their abstract paintings reflect the magic found when dads and daughters get to enjoy each other’s company.

Words of wisdom from my dad:

• Go out and meet your neighbors where they are.

• Have some fun every day.

• Look at setbacks as opportunities to learn.

• Never stop learning.

• Life is too short — so enjoy the journey.

Martha Wherry
An internationally trained, award-winning multimedia artist, Martha’s extensive expertise spans painting, drawing, photography, glassblowing, and fiber arts. Her work has been featured in numerous collections worldwide, and she has collaborated with Warner Brothers, Fox, and Sony Studios.

Brad Rupp:

Brad Rupp is a Wichita-area visual artist whose catalogued artwork spans a range of styles and themes from gestural abstractions to explorations of texture and color.

Rupp’s career emphasizes thoughtful composition, making his work a fitting complement in this exhibit.

Ed Langston:

Ed Langston was born in Pampas, Texas in 1947, moving to Wichita at age 5. He attended Wichita State University and majored in graphic design and then sculpture. Ed’s work frequently reflects his love for nature and the natural environment. “Art and life are both mysteries unfolding; full of surprises with some disappointments. The good pieces have a life of their own and when that happens, I know art lives, and art gives.”

Featuring contributions from regional artists and residents of the Wichita Children's Home, Out of the Ordinary highlights the beauty found in everyday materials — wire, glass, wood, and forgotten metal transformed into art. Visitors are invited to explore, ask questions, and reflect on how reinvention extends beyond art — into how we live, build, and renew our communities.
